

In accordance with the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth) it is a against the law to use electronic media, social media platforms, the Internet or mobile devices to purposefully intimidate, harass, discriminate or threaten the safety of another person. These serious cases of bullying and harassment online could result in a three year imprisonment or being fined over $30,000 (ACORN, 2018).
Each state and territory in Australia carry their own penalties for stalking (the intent to make another person feel fearful or harassed) which encompasses both online and offline conduct (ACORN, 2018).
